Duc du Morny Picpoul de Pinet, Languedoc, France

White flowers, with spicy notes and hints of just barely ripe fruit. Substantial yet fresh, with citrus hints and almondy notes.

Classic cranberry and red current aromas giving a wine with enough bite and texture to be foody, but with enough generosity of fruit to be a delicious glass on its own. A lick of oak in the wine making lends a little soothing creaminess to the whole.

Marchesi di Grésy Langhe Chardonnay, Piemonte, Italy

Ripe, honeyed style with intense hazelnut, nougat, caramel and butter on the nose. A generous silky textured mouth feel is nuanced and savoury with fine citrus and stone fruit characters and taut acidity. Layered and complex with subtle use of oak giving an elegant style with notable minerality. Perfectly balanced, with considerable length.

Domaine du Monteillet, Condrieu ‘Les Grandes Chaillées, Rhone, France

Essence of Viognier, elegant, delicately perfumed, fresh and mineral with layers of flavour and complexity. Still young, this is still full of primary flavours, a true taste of Viognier and after 10 years will develop wonderfully honeyed secondary flavours.

Restrained and elegant as you might expect from this excellent domain. Aromas of citronella and ripe lemons, the palate is fresh and mineral with a persistent finish. Still youthful, this will develop complexity and character as it ages whilst retaining its balance and poise.

Charmes de Kirwan, Margaux, Bordeaux, France

Charmes de Kirwan is the second wine of famous Margaux property Chateau Kirwan. It is remarkably round and fleshy with extremely powerful fruit flavours of blackcurrant and plum. Perfectly in balance there is enough acidity to balance the fleshy fruit while just a hint of oak finish off what is a remarkable wine.

Barolo Bussia, Dardi le Rose, Piemonte, Italy

Ripe meaty nose with hints of dried figs, leather, spice and generous ripe berry aromas. Rich plummy fruit, warm and spicy with herbal notes on the palate, good tannic structure and a level of acidity which means that, whilst drinking now, this wine will age and improve for many years.

Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico Santambrogio, Veneto, Italy

A highly prized wine produced using the best grapes from the hills of the classic Valpolicella DOC region. After prolonged air-drying of the grapes and then fermentation, the wine is aged gradually, first in oak casks then in smaller oak barrels or barriques, in underground cellars. With its heady accent of cherries and a touch of liquorice, this is the king of gamey foods cooked in sauces. Furthermore, because of its robust character it makes an ideal partner to mature cheeses and spicy foods.

Palazzina Moscato Passito, Piemonte, Italy

A nose of intense lemon curd, marmalade, and citrus peel with lightly floral notes. The palate has lots of ripe apricot and acacia honey characters with honeyed sweetness, well-balanced by a citrus zest bite on the lingering finish.

Domaine de Grange Neuve, Monbazillac, France

luscious dessert wine that has fresh aromas of classic botrytis marmalade and ripe nectarine and melon and the flavours on the palate are richer with honey and toffee finishing with a twist of bitter orange zest. The vineyards are based in the heart of Perigord, near Bergerac along the valley of the River Dordogne where there is a particular micro-climate which favours the development of the botrytis necessary to make this style of sweet wine.

Sherry & Port

Fernando de Castilla Classic Fino, Jerez, Spain

Pale in colour with just a hint of straw yellow at the rim. Powerful and acute on the nose, yet aromatic, intriguing and inviting. Sensuously textured rather than brittle, absolutely bone dry, aristocratic and very poised. Its profile is perfectly seamless right until the finish where fascinating savoury, nutty, ripples conjure some charming, subtle and elusive final flavours. Fino Sherry, it is beyond dispute, is absolutely the most incredible and undervalued alcoholic drink there is.

LBV Port with bags of flavour and length on the finish – from an eminently reliable Port house. Deep ruby colour with upfront aromas of black plums, spice and dried herbs, firm and evident tannins and a rich, long finish.
